‘Catchment Detox’ online game wins prestigious AIMIA Award
Tuesday 17 March 2009
‘Catchment Detox’, the game on the ABC Science website, which challenges you to manage a water-catchment, has won the ‘Best Science, Health or Environment’ category at the 15th AIMIA Awards.
The awards, by the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association, are much prized, and eWater CRC is very proud to have been part of the winning team in this category.
AIMIA’s ‘Science, Health or Environment’ category is for: ‘eContent that fosters global collaboration in key areas of science, health and environment and the next generation of infrastructure that will enable it; providing measures to promote and demonstrate scientific or environmental processes and make them accessible to citizens. Interactive media developed to support scientific communication or expand public awareness about the environment, health and science’.
Catchment Detox was developed initially from eWater’s interactive software ‘Concept’, by eWater software developers (Nick Marsh and Sylvain Arene), CSIRO, and The Moon Communications Group (Tim Stubbs).
Input from ABC Science refined the software into the successful online game that has now been running since August 2008 at http://catchmentdetox.net.au.
