Chief’s awards presented to staff at local Freshwater Research Centre:
Last week the chief of CSIRO Land and Water, Dr John Williams, presented two achievement awards to staff at the Murray Darling Freshwater Research Centre (MDFRC) in Mildura. The Mildura Laboratory of the MDFRC, which is part of CSIRO Land and Water, has been conducting research into the rivers, wetlands and floodplains of this region since it was established in 1996.
Helen Missen and Anthony Conallin both received awards for their outstanding contribution to CSIRO.
Shaun Meredith, the officer in charge of the Mildura laboratory said, “Helen, our administrative officer, really is the ‘nuts and bolts’ of the office. Helen is absolutely reliable and is a great asset to the centre.”
“Anthony has been working on a major biological survey of 38 wetlands along the River Murray within South Australian. He has been responsible for coordinating the field team as well as for collecting data on fish, water quality, groundwater and frogs. Anthony is to be commended on both his physical endurance and the endurance of his personal and leadership skills” Mr. Meredith said.
Dr John Williams has been presenting Chief’s Awards across the nine CSIRO Land and Water sites for over a year, recognizing outstanding achievements and collaborative effort among staff at all levels. Dr Williams has been with CSIRO for 30 years, and is due to retire at the end of March.
