15TH Year and still going strong!!

It’s on again! The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre’s Annual Taxonomic Workshop will be held at Lake Hume Resort (Riverina Highway, Albury) on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th February 2004.

For 15 years, staff at Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre have professionally run an annual taxonomic workshop on specialist insect groups for taxonomists around Australia.

Approximately 60 participants from Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania, South Australia and the ACT will hear from nine speakers over the two days. The assembled group will learn how to identify Lacewings and Spongeflies, Fairy Shrimps, Freshwater Mussels, Adult and Larval Dragonflies and Damselflies, Caddis fly larvae and Fish larvae. In addition, six specialist Identification and Ecology Guides will be released during the two-day workshop, taking the total number of guides released over the 15 year period to 51.

Convener of the workshop, Mr John Hawking (Macroinvertebrate Ecologist, based at The Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre, Albury laboratory), said he was sure participants at this year's workshop would be delighted with the speakers and the information being presented.
