Who can Enrol?
Anyone can enrol in a WaterCourse. No special qualifications are necessary and there are no prerequisites.

Cost
The course costs for Ecology and river function and Catchments: their character, waters & chemical composition are $440 (includes GST) per module. The Waterway Assessment course consists of one module and one optional face-to-face one-day workshop and costs $1760 (includes GST), plus $440 (includes GST) for the optional workshop.

How long does a course take, and what is the workload?
Modules can be completed over 12 weeks.

The amount of time you will need to spend on study will depend on a number of factors including your prior knowledge, learning skill level and learning style. Nevertheless, in planning your time commitments you should note the following notional workloads.

The notional workload for Ecology and river function and Catchments: their character, waters & chemical composition is expected to be about 50 hours for each, and they can be completed over 12 weeks.

The total notional workload for Waterway assessment is estimated to be about 150 hours or an average of 12.5 hours over 12 weeks. The optional workshop would be an additional time commitment.

The notional workload for each course includes time spent on WebCT, completing assessment items and other study associated with the course.

What materials and equipment do I need?
To access the online materials, submit assignments and interact with tutors and other students you will need access to a computer with the following: Note: It is up to the student to provide a computer or modem, Microsoft Windows operating system, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Word. We don't provide these as part of the study materials.


Cancellation and refund conditions
The following refund conditions apply for a participant who cancels their enrollment
  1. Requests for cancellation received more then 14 days before the course starts will result in the participant not being billed.
  2. Requests for cancellation received less than 14 days before the course commences will incur an administrative charge of 20% of course costs.
  3. Requests for cancellation received after the course has commenced will be assessed on a per-case basis. Any refunds given after the course has commenced will incur an administrative charge. The charge will be assessed on a per-case basis and will be a minimum of 20% of course costs.

Privacy statement
The University of Canberra is subject to the provisions of the Commonwealth Privacy Act 1988 and you are entitled to protection of your privacy. This means that any information the University collects about you, including personal details, academic progress details, and personal welfare information, is treated by the University according to strict guidelines. Access to your information is restricted to those staff who may need the information in order to carry out their responsibilities in your personal and/or academic interests. After you leave the University, the University may approach you to seek financial or other support.

Other than in accordance with any legal or academic obligation, the University will not disclose personal information about you. This means that we do not release any information we hold about you, including your address, or your results, even to close relatives, without your permission. The exceptions to the general application of these guidelines are the obligations imposed on us by law, Government regulation, or the requirements for normal operation of the University.
