We recently wrapped up another mammoth Annual General Meeting at eWater Group. We recognised the achievements of our organisation, our business units, and the people that represent eWater Group for the support, knowledge, and determination to deliver sustainable water resource management expertise and tools in Australia and globally.
Highlights of this year’s AGM:
- Members approved a new company Constitution, which has a more contemporary format and reflects best practice in Australian corporate governance standards and accountability. The new Constitution commits eWater to publish annual reports including financial results and audited financial statements, which eWater has been doing since 2022. This is part of continued commitment to demonstrate transparency in our work and how we operate in Australia and globally as a Corporations Act regulated organisation.
- We welcomed two new Directors, Jacqui Hickey and Jacqui De Lacy, to the eWater Limited Board. Reflecting generational change, the diversity of our own workforce, and the changing face of the Australian water industry, the eWater Board has achieved gender parity for the first time. We will continue to strive for greater diversity, and a further strengthening and broadening of the Board skills matrix, as we draw on the expertise and advice our directors provide to eWater Group, our owners, partners and stakeholders.
- We farewelled The Hon Bob McMullan who is stepping down as Director of eWL Board, after also chairing the AWP Advisory Committee very impactfully since 2018. We thank Mr McMullan for his counsel and support over the past seven years and wish him well.
We also held our biannual Members Forum:
- The Members Forum, which includes representation from across Australian, state and territory governments and agencies, provided an opportunity for eWater to present its achievements and future strategic directions, and for discussions on the importance and effectiveness of our work in delivering comprehensive water tools, advisory services and programs, and on how our water modelling tools are being used in a range of real world situations.
Michael Wilson, Group CEO, said “the AGM and Members Forum offer an opportunity for our owners and partners to understand the complexity of the work our organisation has had to navigate this year and our continued commitment to ensuring the delivery of robust and comprehensive water policies and programs that benefit communities across Australia, South Asia, South-East Asia (including the Mekong sub-region), and the Pacific.
“The road ahead for the development of the business is a great deal clearer than it has been in several years.
“This year also marked an enhanced re-commitment to eWater Group’s role in the fulfilment of the National Hydrological Modelling Strategy, as well our success in an open tender process to manage Phase 3 of the Australian Water Partnership on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. These major developments should allow eWater and its owners, customers and stakeholders to look more clearly and confidently into the future.
“Lastly, I want to thank eWater Group employees for their hard work and perseverance over the past year while business cases were prosecuted, and new programs were designed and implemented. I am highly optimistic that our organisation has a bright and dynamic future ahead of us driven by a creative, expert, dedicated and professional team.”
