“MUSIC is a crucial tool in water modelling because it helps us understand and plan for effective stormwater management. Simulating pollutant control and the performance of urban water solutions supports smarter, more sustainable planning for the future,” Senior Urban Hydrologist Dr Mukta Sapkota, PhD.
This week (5 February) Ocean Protect invited Dr Sapkota to present at its fundamental webinar series on stormwater modelling through eWater MUSIC™, the impacts of urbanisation on catchments within our rivers and waterways, and how water sensitive urban design can have a real impact on improving water quality for communities throughout Australia.
Dr Sapkota took participants through the first principles of eWater MUSIC and explained how it supports local governments, authorities, urban water managers, and engineering and development businesses in effectively and sustainably predicting flow and implementing strategies to protect and manage our waterways.
“I am grateful to Ocean Protect for the opportunity to present in their latest Fundamentals series. eWater MUSIC is an invaluable tool for anyone working in stormwater management, and I appreciate being able to share how it can assist in designing more sustainable urban environments.”
We thank Ocean Protect and everyone who attended the webinar, which saw over 670 registrations from across Australia and internationally. You can watch the full presentation and grab the slides from the website > https://oceanprotect.com.au/webinars/
eWater MUSIC™ is grounded in decades of Australian research and used by 120 local governments, catchment management authorities, urban water managers, and hundreds of engineering and development businesses, and taught in 15 of Australia’s top universities.
