Last week, eWater was part of an Australian delegation to Water Week at Expo 2020 Dubai, which was lead by Jamie Ibster, Australia's Ambassador for the Environment.

The delegation hosted a workshop series in the Australian Pavillion to mark World Water Day, eWater in collaboration with the Goyder Institute for Water Research hosted a session on the role of evidence in supporting decision making for water security planning in arid environments. The workshop included a series of presentations, interactive Q&A and panel discussions showcasing how research, scientific advice and modelling has been used to support water planning in Australia.

Speakers included Dr Kane Aldridge, Director of the Goyder Insitute, Professor Barry Hart, Chair of the Goyder Institute and past Board member of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority, Juanita Moolman from eWater. Simone Stewart and Angus MacGregor, both from the South Australian Department for Environment and Water participated in the panel discussions.

Water Week included the International Conference on Water Resources and Sustainability - Solutions for Arid Environments, jointly supported by the Australian and UAE governments. eWater's Trudy Green presented on the WaterTools - a guide to three national level platforms that support the management of Australia's scarce water resources, produced by eWater, Geoscience Australia and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for the AWP.

The delegation participated in bi-lateral dialogues on water management with colleagues from Malaysia and Israel.

Water Week and associated activities at Expo provided an amazing opportunity to interact with water managers from around the world, learn about the latest scientific research, share experiences and ideas for responding to water scarcity.

Thank you to the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade team at Expo and the SA Dept for Environment and Water for their work leading the delegation and activities at Water Week.
