Today at 3pm we will be talking to Dr Uday Nidumolu about using research and technology to strengthen the adaptive capacity and productivity of smallholder farmers.

Climate change is increasing the seasonal risk for smallholder farmers around the world. This webinar will look at how research and technology has been used to strengthen the adaptive capacity and productivity for smallholder farmers in rainfed areas in southern Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Karnataka, India.

Technology introduced through this project included participatory groundwater monitoring at the village scale, climate risk assessment, understanding soil biology in relation to water use efficiency and using a suite of soil water and solute monitoring tools (called the Virtual Irrigation Academy) that can help smallholders measure soil water on their farms and guide continual improvement of their management and profitability.
